As Emmanuel is a
non-profit organization projects are funded by private
donations. Emmanuel is currently conducting the Heritage &
Promise campaign to complete construction projects, develop the
faculty, expand the scholarship program, and retire debt; and is
pleased to announce the addition of
Dr. Mike Sweeney as
Assistant Professor of World Mission and New Testament, and
John
Wasem to serve as the Director of the Emmanuel Institutes.
Emmanuel continues to see the scholarship program expanded,
especially as it relates to the addition of international
students.
Emmanuel continues to expand its campus with the
building of 16 more cottages in the
Emmanuel Village, which is a student
housing facility, and the
Fred and Dorothy Thompson Community
Center. A dedication ceremony for both is scheduled for
October 25, 2007.
The Thompson Community Center will serve as a
gathering place for students and house the
newly formed Emmanuel Institutes—The Charles Taber Institute for
World Mission, The Charles Cook Institute for Excellence in
Ministry, and The Institute for Church Planting. The Thompson
Center will also include facilities to enhance community life—a
fireplace living room; a recreational room; a full kitchen; and
guest rooms for lecturers, missionaries on furlough, and other
Emmanuel visitors.
Much attention has been given to the Heritage & Promise
campaign. The campaign continues to move into territory beyond
our original goal of $6,000,000. The campaign goal was
increased to $8,000,000 in order to fund the construction of 16
additional cottages in the Emmanuel Village. This is being done
in order to stop the dramatic increase in the cost of
construction.
