Bob Hull is a native

Testament professor Beauford Bryant and encouraged by him to
become a college teacher. After graduation he became a member of
the first entering class of students at Emmanuel School of

in biblical studies from Princeton Theological Seminary, where
Bruce M. Metzger was his major professor. He began teaching at
Emmanuel in 1977.
Dr. Hull’s
research interests include New Testament textual criticism,
Christian identity in the Graeco-Roman world, and biblical
theology. He has published articles and reviews in The Journal
of Biblical Literature, Lectionary Homiletics, The Journal of
Early Christian Studies, and The
Stone/Campbell Journal, as well as more popularly-oriented
periodicals including Leaven and The Christian Standard.
He holds membership in The Society of Biblical
Literature, The

The University of Tübingen (Germany), Emory University, Macquarie

He has served in

a local Christian church, where he frequently teaches classes and
sings in the choir.
Dr. Hull is interested in the
culture of the Southern Appalachian Highlands, especially its folk
music. In addition, he enjoys walking and fly fishing. He and his
